News Corp chief Rupert Murdoch and Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt have been caught sharing a handshake and a smile at the Olympic village.
Footage shot on a mobile phone shows the meeting between two men who have taken great pains to distance themselves in recent months.
Labour MP Jim Sheridan, who sat on the commons committee which investigated phone hacking, says the footage proves the pair are as close as ever.
Mr Hunt has come under fire in recent months over allegations he was too close to Murdoch when he oversaw News Corp's attempted buyout of BSkyB.
Mr Hunt's representatives say it was a chance exchange, whilst News Corp has not commented on the video.
