Three-year-old's 999 call a hoax

Report by Lisa Snell

Two 10-year-old girls are being "spoken to" by police after it emerged a 999 call apparently made by a three-year-old girl in Leeds was in fact a hoax.

West Yorkshire Police launched a search for the youngster who told the ambulance service her mother was unconscious.

It released the call, in which the operator was told the caller did not know where she lived and was locked in doors.

A spokesman said the mobile call was traced to Bridlington, East Yorkshire, where the two girls were identified.
