After April and June were the wettest on record, Britain's sodden summer looks set to continue as more rain is expected this week.

Forecasters are expecting more showers over the coming seven days with heavy, thundery rainstorms due to strike in the middle of the week.

However, the relentless rain that resulted in record-breaking weather conditions has vanished for now.

The slightly improving conditions have meant the Environment Agency now has a vastly reduced number of flood warnings and alerts.
