The Queen has attended a service at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh to install Prince William as a Knight of the Thistle.
The Queen was accompanied by Prince Philip, Princess Anne and the Duchess of Cambridge to witness Prince William receive Scotland's highest honour.
It celebrates men and women who have held public office or who have contributed in a significant way to national life.
Thousands of people crowded on to the Royal Mile to catch a glimpse of William and Kate, who are known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn while in Scotland.
An annual garden party in the grounds of Holyrood Palace was scheduled after the service, with 8,000 guests attending from across Scotland.
