The dramatic moment a lightning bolt struck the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle has been caught on camera.

The amazing sight was filmed by 20-year-old Marc Burton, who had gone to his friend's house close to the bridge, on Thursday afternoon.

As the storm clouds gathered the pair decided to record the scene and then captured the moment the lightning struck, which Marc said was "frightening".

The video has had more than 350,000 views on YouTube.
