Queen enjoys Jubilee weekend finale

Report by Sam Datta-Paulin

Her Majesty has enjoyed a packed day of events on the final day of her weekend of Jubilee celebrations.

The day began with a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London, attended by leaders of all religions and political parties, as well as hundreds of other dignitaries.

The service was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams, who paid tribute to the Queen's selfless public service, and wished the Duke of Edinburgh well following his admission to hospital with a bladder infection.

Following the service, Her Majesty attended a reception with the Lord Mayor of London at Mansion House, before heading for lunch at the Palace of Westminster.

The great hall in the Houses of Parliament was filled with Royals and over 700 other diners.

Following lunch, the family climbed into the historic horse-drawn state carriages for a procession to Buckingham Palace, flanked by hundreds of armour-clad cavalry.

Once there, the monarch recuperated for a short while, before making a balcony appearance above an estimated one-million members of the public, whilst the guard fired gun salutes and the Red Arrows and other historic aircraft flew overhead.
