Steven Moffat has been honoured with the Special Award at the TV BAFTAs, presented by the stars of his biggest television shows.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Matt Smith were on hand to present the gong for Moffat's “outstanding creative writing contribution to television”, including Doctor Who and Sherlock.
Cumberbatch and Smith affectionately mocked the Scottish writer on stage, admitting they like to call him "The Moff" or "The Moffinator".
He was praised by The Doctor and Sherlock for his writing talent, the actors called Moffat "a word machine".
The Special Award is a gift from the Academy and presented in honour of Dennis Potter.
