Pregnant Kate faces second day in hospital

Report by Sophie Foster, Video by Ashley Fudge

The Duchess of Cambridge is spending her second day in hospital with severe morning sickness as the nation celebrates the news that she is pregnant.

Her husband arrived at the King Edward VII Hospital on Tuesday morning, heading straight into the building without acknowledging the waiting media.

Months of speculation about a royal pregnancy were ended on Monday afternoon when the couple announced the news.

However the excitement about the eagerly-anticipated arrival was tinged with concern after it was revealed the Duchess was admitted to the London hospital for hyperemesis gravidarum - very acute morning sickness.

The Duchess had a number of engagements this week, including a visit to London's Docklands for a charity fund-raising session on a brokers' trading floor, but they have all been cancelled, said St James's Palace.

It is understood that the pregnancy has not passed the 12-week point and the announcement was prompted by the Duchess's medical condition.
