Paralympic cauldron lit in Stoke Mandeville

Report by Sam Datta-Paulin

The Paralympic cauldron has been lit in Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire, the spiritual home of the event.

Four flames were bought from the capital cities of the UK to be united at the town's stadium.

The torch will now be rushed to the Olympic Park in London in a 24-hour relay ahead of the Games.

Huge demand for tickets and excitement surrounding the competition has already seen the 2012 Paralympics labelled the best ever, and for many the party started with the relay on Tuesday.

Britain is hoping for over 100 medals from the Games, and a potential second place finish overall.
