Lord Coe has commented on the incident which saw a man allegedly throw a bottle towards Usain Bolt seconds before the men's 100m final was due to start.

Ashley Gill-Webb, 34, from Cornmill Court, South Millford, near Leeds has been charged by police over the incident.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday morning, Lord Coe said: "Throwing a bottle onto the field of play is unacceptable not just at an Olympic Games but in any sports venue.

"The guy was removed and anybody that does that in the future will be removed."

Lord Coe was also seen smiling when he joked that it may have "poetic justice" that the man who threw the bottle was sat next to an Olympic judoka.

Bolt, who went on to retain his 100m title, said he had been unaware of the incident.
