Hoy and Team GB win team sprint

Report by Mark Morris

Britain has won the gold medal in the Olympic track cycling team sprint event at the Velodrome.

Chris Hoy and team-mates Philip Hindes and Jason Kenny beat France in world record time in the final on Thursday.

It was Hoy's fifth gold medal.

But it was not all good news for Team GB.

Earlier in the evening, Victoria Pendleton and Jess Varnish were relegated from the women's team sprint for a takeover infringement.
