David Cavendish has spoken of his disappointment after his son missed out on an Olympic medal in the road race event, but says he is still very proud of him.
Mark Cavendish, who is the world champion and winner of 23 Tour de France stages, was among the favourites in the 250km event but missed out to Kazakhstan's Alexandr Vinokourov.
Colombia's Rigoberto Uran claimed silver and Norway's Alexander Kristoff third.
