Team GB weightlifter Zoe Smith talks personal bests

Report by Mark Morris

Zoe Smith has been discussing her personal goals ahead of her Olympics weightlifting debut on Monday.

At 18 years old, she is one of the youngest members of Team GB, but still believes she can achieve great things at London 2012.

Smith said: "My own personal goals are just to do as well as I can.

"Personal bests are obviously very important to everyone in every sport so to get them on the platform in front of a home crowd would be fantastic."

Smith is not just competing against herself. She wants to beat the records set by others too.

"I would also like to be breaking some senior British records which were set by Michaela Breeze who was our last female, British weightlifting Olympian.

"She is a massive inspiration to me, so to be able to break her records aged 18 would be pretty phenomenal."
