Michelle Obama has given her own personal good luck message to Team USA ahead of the Olympics.

Leading the US presidential delegation, which includes a ringside seat at the opening ceremony, the US First Lady met her nation's Olympians at their training ground on Friday.

Beginning her visit with an informal breakfast with athletes, she urged them to: "Try and have some fun, but also win.

"I am still so inspired by all of you. We are all proud of you all, we really are. You have got a country back home who is rooting for you every single second, so you have already won."

She added: "This summer, people across America are going to be supporting Team USA and not just by cheering you on from our living rooms, but by striving to live up to the example that you have set."
