Olympic torch makes debut in EastEnders

Report by Lisa Snell

It has been on a journey around the country and on Monday night the Olympic torch paid a visit to the set of EastEnders.

Making soap history, the flame was carried through Albert Square in the fictional London Borough of Walford in a special live segment of the BBC One show.

The cast gathered outside the Queen Victoria pub to cheer on Billy Mitchell, played by Perry Fenwick, as 19 cameras caught all the drama.

It was an action-packed episode for Billy, his granddaughter Lola also gave birth.
