Kristen Stewart has admitted she felt a huge responsibility taking on the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s novel, On The Road.

The 22-year-old plays Marylou, the young girlfriend of the main character, Dean Moriarty, played by Garret Hedlund.

"Obviously this book is beloved by a lot more people than me and Garrett [Hedlund],” she said.

“For decades this movie has been trying to find legs and it finally did with us and that is simply mind blowing.

“I would do anything. I would lay in the street for this movie. I've never done a movie that had that much sort of honour about it.”

On The Road is out now in the UK.
