Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish held their annual An Enduring Vision Benefit, marking 20 years of the Elton John Foundation.
David argued that educating people about HIV/AIDS is just as important now as it ever was.
"There is always a new young generation of people coming along and they didn't live through what we did in the 80's and what we saw and how this disease impacted people's lives, and they don't really understand the history of HIV and AIDS," said Furnish.
"They don't understand the horror of this disease and what it can do, what it did to people, how it ostracised them, how they got shunned away from society. We have to educate those people, they need to know," added Elton.
The Elton John Foundation has headquarters in both the US and the UK Last year the event raised over $2 million for HIV/AIDS prevention, research, support services and awareness campaigns.
