Stars including Tom Hanks and Ricky Gervais celebrated at the HBO afterparty in LA on Sunday, following the Emmys.

HBO scooped 23 awards on the night, with political film Game Change and White House comedy series Veep both picking up awards.

HBO hosted some of the biggest names in show business at the bash, with stars celebrating long into the night.

Earlier in the evening, Ricky Gervais presented the award for Directing in a Variety Special and later joked about his role in proceedings.

"I liked handing one out because I could get a beer," said Gervais.

"It was all good. It was a really nice show. Really nice warm feeling and it was fun".
