The latest trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been released as part of Tolkien Week.

The festivities mark the 75th anniversary of the publication of The Hobbit novel, as well as Hobbit Day, the birthday of characters Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.

The trailer shows Bilbo Baggins leaving the Shire and beginning his adventure with Gandalf the wizard.

It is the first of three prequels to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson plans to release The Hobbit on December 14.
