A new trailer for Steven Spielberg's upcoming historical biopic, Lincoln, has made its debut.

It features an uncanny portrayal of the 16th president of the United States by two-time Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day Lewis.

The two-minute trailer features a heavily made up and costumed Day Lewis as the famed president and abolitionist, and details the struggles he faced as head of a nation bitterly divided over slavery and the American civil war.

The film is based on a portion of the 1,000-page book "Team of Rivals" by historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, focusing only on the last months of Lincoln's presidency and life.
