Will.i.am's song broadcasts from Mars

Report by Sarah Johnston

Will.i.am has made history after his new song debuted from the surface of Mars.

His tune "Reach For The Stars" has been beamed back to earth by NASA's Curiosity rover to a news conference in Pasadena, California.

Will.i.am says he wants it to encourage children to study science and has described the song as an ode to his "passion for science, technology and space exploration".

The project is a collaboration between NASA and the rapper's i.am.angel Foundation, which helps provide digital resources in classrooms in America.
