Matt Smith has described the new series of Doctor Who as epic.

The actor was speaking at the premiere of the first episode of the series which is titled Asylum of the Daleks.

When asked what viewers can expect from the seventh series of the sci-fi tv programme he said: "It's absolutely our intention this year to give it as much scale and scope, and make it as cinematic as possible."

He also revealed that he had to learn to horse ride for a wild west themed episode: "I learnt up in Cardiff and I love it, it's a wonderful thing."
