Roseanne Barr was given a huge surprise at her Comedy Central roast when her ex-husband Tom Arnold turned up as a guest.

The pair, who were partners on screen and in the real world, have not been in the same room as each other for 17 years.

Arnold joked that it was not a great idea to get your ex to come to a roast, with the exchanges between the two remaining light-hearted.

The acerbic Roseanne could not resist putting the boot in though.

After she thanked him for being brave and funny she took a swipe at her former partner in crime.

The comic, who secured Arnold a role on her eponymous show, joked: "Jesus Christ, how many jobs did I have to get that guy?"
