Edward Norton says his character in The Bourne Legacy makes compromising decisions for the greater good.

The star said it was part of his attraction to the character.

Norton said of Retired Col. Eric Byer, who he plays in movie: "He has a moral structure that he feels he is fulfilling.

"He doesn't enjoy what he does, he does it for the greater good of the system he believes in."

The Bourne Legacy is out August 13.
