Tommy Lee Jones has praised his co-star, Meryl Streep, at the premiere of their new film Hope Springs in New York.
Jones plays Streep's husband of 31 years, and says she is one of the main reasons he took the role.
"It was a good script about real people with real problems that seem to be really funny and it had Meryl in it.
"I think she's the best living motion picture actor and I'm just glad to be her pal," he added.
Trying to find a cure for their lifeless marriage, Streep's character, Kay Soames, enrolls the couple in a week-long therapy session lead by Dr. Bernie Feld, played by Steve Carrell.
Carrell atttended the premiere with his wife Nancy.
The couple recently celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary, so when asked if he had learnt anything new from the role he confidently said they did not need any tips.
"I think we're doing pretty well on our own," said Carrell.
Hope Springs hits UK cinemas on October 30.
