Colin Farrell insists his latest movie, Total Recall, is different from the original.

Farrell along with his co-stars Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale hit the red carpet in LA for the premiere of the remake of the sci-fi classic.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone starred in the original 1990 movie of the same name.

Farrell however, insists the movies are not the same: "The name of the film, the characters name, a lot of the plot points are the same, some of the lines are lifted from the original.

"The third act is completely different though and the tone of the film is completely different. Hopefully it justifies its existence and the two hours of entertainment that we made it to be," said Farrell.

Total Recall opens in UK cinemas August 29.
