Former X Factor finalist Amelia Lily has revealed she has had her heart broken and she has also spoken out about those Frankie Cocozza and Niall Horan dating rumours.

Talking about a recent failed relationship she said: “I have had my heart broken but it is nice to write songs about it because it gets it off your chest.

“Better songs come from the heart, so I think it's always nice to write about past relationships."

Lily has been rumoured to have had flings with fellow X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza and One Direction’s Niall Horan but she said: "It's Frankie, let's be honest he's not boyfriend material, I'm just very good friends with him.

"As for Niall, I basically met him once and we were apparently dating."

Lily came third on The X Factor in 2011 and she has since signed a record deal with the new Sony Music label Xenomania.

Her debut single, You Bring Me Joy, is out on September 2.
