Madonna has gone on a political rant at her gig in Paris.

She took to the stage in the French capital for an intimate show as a last minute addition to her MDNA tour, and tickets were made available through her fan club.

During the 45 minute show she took time out to preach to the crowd.

"We are entering some very scary times in our world", she said. "Economic markets are collapsing, people have nothing to eat in Greece, people all over the world are suffering and people are afraid.

"And what happens when people are afraid? They become intolerant. They start pointing the finger at other people. They say, 'you're the reason, you're the problem, you're to blame.'

"They say 'get out,' okay.

"And this of course you know, is not the answer to the problem. The enemy is not out there, there is no such thing as an external enemy. The enemy is within."
