Ben Stiller and friends at The Watch premiere

Report by Sam Homewood

Ben Stiller says he had more fun making new movie The Watch than he has "had in a long time".

Stiller, Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn hit the red carpet in Los Angeles on Monday evening at the world premiere of their latest comedy.

The film, also starring British actor Richard Ayoade, tells the story of four normal guys who form a neighbourhood watch. The men inadvertently stumble upon an alien invasion, which inspires them to make it their mission to save their town and become local heroes.

Ben said: "We had a great time. You know, they're a great bunch of guys.

"I've known Vince and Jonah for a while and Richard Ayoade is an incredibly talented guy from Britain and it's his first movie and we just all hung out together.

"We were in Atlanta, which is a fun place to be and it was a really fun set. I have to say, I had more fun on this movie than I've had in a long time."

The film’s original title, Neighbourhood Watch, was scrapped after American teenager Trayvon Martin was shot and killed in Florida.

Speaking of the incident, Stiller said: "We're just a comedy, you know. The point of this movie is for people to laugh. It's a broad comedy, kind of absurdist about aliens you know, coming down.

"So, it really has nothing to do with that event and I hope people just laugh and enjoy the film."

The Watch is released in the UK August 29.
