The British boyband were absent from this year's Teen Choice Awards, but that did not stop them winning three of the surfboard accolades.

The band were awarded the Choice summer music star group gong, the Choice breakout group award and the Choice love song prize for What Makes You Beautiful.

Although the group were not present at the ceremony, they recorded a short video to say thanks.

Country music star Taylor Swift picked up five awards, including Choice music female artist and female country artist, as well as voice actress for her role in animated comedy The Lorax.

Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Bieber and Flo Rida all performed at the event.
