American band Scissor Sisters topped the bill at the BT River of Music Festival at the Tower of London on Saturday.
The free event involved artists from around the world and heralded the start of the 2012 Olympic Games.
For the Scissor Sister's Ana Matronic, playing in such an interesting location was the main appeal to her: "Well they said 'Tower of London' so I said 'absolutely'.
"I am so excited to be here, it is the most historical site in all of England so it is an honour and a pleasure to be here."
She added that she has some unusual plans for the show: "We are definitely planning on beheading some people. Or inspiring some people to lose their heads."
