Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale have bowed out of the Batman franchise in style with a premiere across three cinemas in London.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday, director Nolan said he cannot be convinced to make another film with the character.
"No, no, this is the end for me," he told reporters.
The Dark Knight Rises was shown at two screenings in Leicester Square, as well as at the BFI IMAX at Waterloo.
While thousands of people saw the movie in Leicester Square, a select few VIPs, including Prince Harry, were invited to the IMAX screening.
The film has already taken over £1 million in pre-order sales at the BFI IMAX alone, and 43 of the showings there are already sold out.
Nolan laughed off an internet campaign to get him to direct a Bond movie. He said: "That's very flattering but I haven't figured out what I'm doing next."
