Django Unchained cast hit Comic Con

Report by Sam Datta-Paulin

Quentin Tarantino's new blockbuster-to-be Django Unchained is not set for release for around five months, but that has not stopped a wave of hype building up around the film.

Jamie Foxx stars as Django, a freed slave who becomes friends with a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter, played by Christoph Waltz.

Waltz helps Django free his wife, played by Kerry Washington, from an evil plantation owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The film is generating enormous excitement, and Foxx, Waltz and Washington were among the stars to hit Comic Con in San Diego.

Waltz said Tarantino wrote the bounty hunter role specifically with him in mind: "To have a writer like Quentin, write something with you in mind, it's not that difficult to figure it out and get behind it and try to suss out the intricacies while being swept away."

Early trailers have not dissapointed, with a James Brown heavy soundtrack, spaghetti western shoot-outs and a typically Tarantino-esque script.

Django Unchained hits cinemas on December 25.
