Dark Knight Rises director Chris Nolan honoured in LA

The Dark Knight Rises is fast approaching and to celebrate director Chris Nolan has been honoured in Hollywood.

His hand and foot prints are now a permanent feature on the forecourt outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway and Gary Oldman showered their director with hugs and handshakes before the ceremony.

Afterwards, Nolan talked to the press about the film and gave a bit more info about Tom Hardy's character Bane.

"Bane and Batman have a complicated relationship," he said.

"I don't want to give away too much about what people get to discover in the movie, but, certainly this is really the first time that Batman's come up against a physical protagonist, someone who can stand toe to toe with him with the same kind of training and physicality."

The Dark Knight Rises hits cinemas on July 20.
