Whilst former husband Russell Brand makes jokes about their marriage, Katy Perry has been more or less left to defend herself.
The singer will surely be hoping her biopic, Katy Perry: Part of Me, which details her divorce from Brand, will tell her side of the story.
"I think it was important for me to leave some of the more difficult things in the film so that it wasn't just a narcissistic fanfare film about how great I am," she said.
"There might be moments of greatness but they are very hard-worked. I think it was important to show that there are obstacles and problems in peoples' lives and it's OK if you have them."
But she admits it was not easy showing the film warts and all: "I keep everything honest. And sometimes that's a hard thing to swallow. And sometimes it's not that flattering.
"I mean, some of the shots in the movie that you see are pretty revealing. I don't look my best. I don't have all this this gorgeous light on me. I'm bloated with zits and the whole bit, but I think that people can find it relatable," she said.
On the topic of finding love, Katy was more cheerful, however, saying: "The answer is always changing for me, you know, because every day is kind of a bit of a surprise.
"Sometimes it's a great opportunity, sometimes it's a situation I have to deal with. So I don't know. I still believe in love, most definitely. I'm just going to let that take the lead."
Katy Perry: Part of Me is due in cinemas in the US and UK on 5 July.
