Lindsay Lohan emerged uninjured after a collision with a dump truck on a coastal highway near Los Angeles on Friday morning.

Santa Monica police said there was no sign Lohan was driving while impaired and that they would continue to investigate who was at fault in the crash.

The truck's driver, who was uninjured, also showed no signs of driving under the influence.

Lohan's spokesman said the 25-year-old actress was taken to hospital as a precaution but was released two hours later.

She returned to the set of her new movie, Liz and Dick, hours after the crash.

The film details the love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
