The new Bourne Legacy trailer has arrived and it shows just how closely linked it is with the previous three films.

Matt Damon is not in this one. Instead, it features Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross, apparently a cover; his real name is Kenneth Gidson.

The story takes place in the wake of Jason Bourne's actions in the Bourne Supremacy. Bourne has left a real mess for his employers and they are trying to clean up after him.

That means removing all agents associated with the operation. Cross is one of these agents, but he has other ideas.

Helped by Rachel Weisz's character, a scientist, Cross has to escape the man heading up the clean-up programme, played by Ed Norton.

The Bourne Legacy is due out on August 13.
