Thai prisoners learn Gangnam Style

Inmates at Bangkok prison have been moving to Psy's Gangnam Style for a prison dance competition.

The competition was launched in October, acts have been eliminated round by round, until they were left with 70 groups.

The remaining groups battled it out in a final, judged on synchronisation. The winning team were awarded a trophy, food and clothes.

The inmates have been incarcerated for a crimes ranging from burglary to drug smuggling.

28-year-old prisoner, Veerasak Muangwong said: "I like the moves. We also get some exercise and the moves are funny."

Some prisoners said they found the activity reduced their stress levels.

Suchart Wonganatchai, Director General of Corrections Department, said: "We have problems with inmates fighting all the time but after this entertainment activity, we notice that the problems have been reduced."

The official Gangnam Style music video recently became the most watched video on YouTube, with over 800 million views.
