World's shortest freefall jump attempted on The Conan Show

Report by Sam Homewood

After the success of Felix Baumgartner's freefall jump, The Conan Show in the US has attempted the world's shortest freefall.

Travelling at a peak speed of 833.9mph, Baumgartner completed the world's highest freefall, travelling 24 miles. He also broke the sound barrier and became the first person ever to travel at supersonic speed without the use of a jet or spacecraft.

Clearly inspired by Fearless Felix, Conan O'Brien hosted the World's Shortest Freefall on his chat show.

Introducing the event, he said: "Behold ladies and gentlemen. Here he is, daredevil Alex Brenner suspended 4 inches from the ground, almost 102 millimetres."

Alex completed his freefall in 0.006 seconds, sadly no one was able to confirm the fall as a new world record.
