Thousands of River Plate football fans have paraded through the streets of Buenos Aires with what they hope is the world's longest flag.

The red-and-white flag, measuring 7,829m long and 4.5m wide, was carried through the Argentinian capital on Monday, from the team's old stadium to its current home at the Monumental stadium.

While no officials were present, aerial photos were later sent to Guinness judges for final verification.
