For most pet owners, a few leftovers is enough of a treat for a dog. And most of the time, the dog seems pretty happy with what it is getting.
For a few pampered pooches, however, only the best of the best will do.
And it is these dogs that D Pet Hotels in Chelsea, New York caters for. Far from your usual kennels, the basic suite at the hotel is a luxurious 36 square feet, and goes up to 144 square feet for the "Uber Suite".
Co-owner Kerry Brown said: "At D Pet Hotels, we are all about the doggies. So, we offer everything from overnight boarding to daycare to spa and grooming services. So, you name it, we have it. We are a five star doggie hotel."
She added: "When a doggie is away from their parents, it can be a little nerve-wracking, and to be with a ton of dogs all day is pretty stressful sometimes.
"So what we do is, they play all day and have fun and then they get their own suites at night to just relax and chill out."
She went on: "We actually provide a doggie bed for each of the dogs to stay on as well as a flat screen TV. And what that means... A flat screen TV may sound lavish, but it's really all about creating those elements of home.
"So many doggies are used to having a TV, a comfy bed, and so our goal is to really create a home away from home for doggies."
The hotel costs $79 a day for a standard suite, although Uber Suites come in at an eye-watering $200.
America spends over $50 billion dollars a year on petcare, which means there is likely to be plenty of demand.
