Robot dances like Michael Jackson at Bejing competition

Report by Mark Morris

The first Beijing College Student Robotics Competition has come to an end and it featured an eclectic mix of weird and wonderful events.

Ninety-nine teams from Beijing and Taiwan participated in the two-day competition, which included sports such as boxing, athletics, football and golf.

The competition also featured a dancing category, where students programmed their metallic creations to perform various difficult movements.

One of the dancing robots was designed to look and move like Michael Jackson.

China currently tops the world in robotics competitions in terms of participant numbers, as more than 100,000 Chinese youths take part within the field each year.
