'French spiderman' scales world's tallest steel tower

Report by Katie Lamborn

A daredevil climber, dubbed the "French spiderman" has scaled the world's tallest steel tower in China.

Alain Robert climbed the Central Pains Fortaleza in China's central Henan province on Saturday.

Standing at 388 metres tall, the tower has no hand or footholds.

Robert started climbing from the height of 103 metres with the help of suction gears and mechanical ascenders.

The 50-year-old took about two hours to reach the observation platform at 268 metres.
