Daredevils in Taiwan have been trying to fly in homemade planes, using only human power to propel themselves forward.

A wide variety of flying devices were created, not all of them necessarily bird or plane-inspired.

Contestants were competing in New Taipei City to win a prize put up by the government of 520,000 New Taiwan Dollars (£11,000).

When a winner is chosen they will be sponsored to enter the International Bognor Birdman competition in England next year.
