Daredevils take part in Chinese BASE jumping festival

Report by Katie Lamborn

More than 40 people have taken part in Asia's biggest BASE jumping festival on Aizhai Bridge in Hunan, China.

The activity requires participants to jump from fixed objects and use a parachute to break their fall.

Jumpers from over 13 countries including China, Germany, Great Britain and Spain took part.

With a main span of 1,176 meters and a maximum height of 330 meters, the long-span Aizhai suspension bridge is the longest in China.

BASE competitions have been held since the early 1980s, with accurate landings or free fall aerobatics used as the judging criteria.
