Australian-born Chayne Hultgren has broken the Guinness world record for swallowing 24 swords simultaneously.

Also known as The Space Cowboy, Hultgren says he prepares with meditation and internal isolation to control the involuntary internal muscles.

"I can feel it go all the way down my throat, through the oesophagus, past my heart, past my lungs and into my stomach," he said.

"And when you actually swallow mutiple blades like this stack, I can actually see the last few of them vibrating with my heartbeat, because it actually nudges my heart across a little bit."

Hultgren is a multiple record-holder for various Guinness World Record categories including the farthest distance on a unicycle juggling a unicycle (1,005m) & heaviest weight pulled with the eye sockets (411.65 kg) among many others.

On entering the new edition of the book, he said: "I've been reading the Guinness World Records book since I was a boy and training for sword swallowing since I was 16, so to have made the 2013 edition with my achievements, and to have my name amongst all those other incredible and extreme people, is an honour."
