Film fans soak in hot tubs

Report by Simon Parker

Film fans looking for a new experience soaked up a movie at The Hot Tub Cinema in London's trendy east end.

Perched on a rooftop in Hackney, movie-goers relaxed in a tub under the night's sky while watching a film projected onto a big screen.

As the sun set, the punters stripped off, uncorked bottles of champagne and slipped into the 40-degree water as the titles began to roll.

Event organiser Asher Charman explained that the idea for the cinema was formed after enjoying a hot tub with friends in his back garden.

"We wanted to watch a movie, we wanted to use the hot tub, and we just thought why don't we project it out the kitchen window onto a bed sheet on the washing line and see what the results will be, and that was how it was born." Charman said.

"About a year ago we thought you know what, it's about time, we've over grown our garden here, we've got three or four tubs, it's time to take the step up and here we are now."
