Boris Johnson has given a gag-filled speech at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
The Mayor of London picked up the gong for Politician of the Year at the ceremony.
Mr Johnson enjoyed a surge of public support during the London 2012 Olympics after a string of jokey speeches, performing the Mobot and getting stuck on a zip wire at a Games event.
In his speech the Mayor claimed Team GB's rowing performance was "the greatest aquatic triumph this country has seen since Trafalgar".
He went on: "You will ask 'how can I accept this award tonight'? It is because I am a politician.
"In a world notoriously short of credit I am determined to hoover it up while it is going on the very good principle that I would almost certainly have been unjustly blamed had things gone wrong.
"I have no hesitation or compunction in accepting this fantastic award tonight, ladies and gentlemen, on the strict understanding that it is not a recognition for me but a recognition of everybody who works for London, the greatest city on earth."
