The world's first zombie presidential candidate has started on his "campaign trail", with one agenda: Job creation for his fellow zombies.

The member of the undead, joined by his human wife Patty Morgan-Zombie, drove his tour bus into Charlotte, the city hosting the Democratic National Convention, on Monday.

Less chatty than most politicians, he let his wife do the talking: "We think he's going to do well. Some candidates will carry the blue states, some candidates will carry the red states, but we are a shoe-in for the dead states.

"He has vowed to increase the workforce for every zombie out there," she added.

However, President Obama and his Republican rival Mitt Romney need not worry just yet, the zombie is in fact part of a promotional stunt by American network AMC to get their series The Walking Dead back on the Dish Network.

"My husband is running for president, because he could have taken a certain issue issue lying down, well, because he was already lying down, but he decided to stand up and pledge to fight for equal viewing opportunities for all," said Patty.
