Batman superfan builds his own Batpod motorbike

Report by Sophie Foster

A Vietnamese Batman superfan has built a replica of the superhero's motorbike, the Batpod.

Using scrap metal and an old 150 US dollar motorbike, it took Vu Tung Lam two days to finish the design of the bike frame and a further two more months to complete the vehicle.

"As I watched the Batman movies, I was very excited with the Batpod, which is a very interesting vehicle. It inspired me to make one for myself. I took the concept of the Batpod and built the rest based on my researches," Lam said.

He doesn't intend to stop at just Batman's bike, saying: "My next assignment is his car, the Tumbler. And one day, I may research to make the Batwing. Who knows."

It is unlikely that Lam can legally ride his bike on the streets because Vietnam's law does not allow structure-modified vehicles to join in the traffic, but he hopes to one day take the Batpod to Hollywood.
